Join the Central Texas 24-Hour time of giving.

It's nearly time for Central Texas to come together to give back to their local communities! Join the fundraising movement from 6:00 PM on February 28th until 6:00 PM on March 1st.

This year, Shield-Ayres Foundation has offered a $10,000 matching grant to be distributed among Basic Needs nonprofits, (like us) on Amplify Austin Day. Each nonprofit will receive matching funds on a pro-rata basis based on their total funds raised on Amplify Austin Day.

Last year, $10.3M was raised for 700 Central Texas nonprofits on Amplify Austin Day. Will you help break that record?

Platinum Status Achieved

Hays County Food Bank ranks among the elite 4% through Central Texas Food Bank's ReThink Hunger Initiative.

The ReThink Hunger initiative exists in order to address the whole needs of those who need food assistance. Providing food is important, but focusing on food alone ignores the many other factors that keep a person trapped in cycles of poverty and hunger. Many clients have to choose between food for themselves and their families, and other essentials; such as housing, medical care, or childcare. ReThink Hunger encourages Central Texas Food Bank's network of partner agencies to alleviate these needs all in one place.

We are ecstatic to share that we are a Platinum Partner for the second year in a row. We look forward to a continued partnership as we fight hunger in Central Texas together.

Banana Pancakes

Client ImageSammy had an accident that required him to take an extended break from work. While he was recovering from his back surgery, he was only receiving a government check. He was anxious to regain his strength so that he could go back to work, because as he says, "that paycheck is a lot better than the government check."

The food bank was able to provide Sammy with food assistance to help supplement his reduced income. The money that he saved from his grocery bills went to pay for a new truck since his was totaled in the accident.

Sammy's favorite food is potatoes in tomato sauce with borracho beans cooked with cilantro, serranos, and onion. You serve that with fresh tortillas and a bit of cheese. Luckily, he is able to get the majority of those fresh ingredients from the food bank. We wish Sammy the best of luck!

Unfortunately, not all food that comes through our doors is fit for consumption and it must be disposed of. Heavy-duty 55-gallon trashbags are greatly appreciated.
