Spotlight on Dixie Cream for National Donut Day!

Whether you spell it doughnut or donuts, it doesn’t matter – it’s National Donut Day!

The Salvation Army created “Doughnut Day” in 1938 to honor the women who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I. National Donut Day is the first Friday of every June, and while we all eat donuts to celebrate today, we would like to give great thanks to Dan Anderson for all his contributions to Hays County Food Bank.

Dan has been the owner of Dixie Cream Donuts for over 25 years, and he has been providing donuts to Hays County Food Bank for more than 15 years! Volunteers pick up donuts from Dixie Cream every day the shop is open.

Donating to those in need and to the people that help the community is Dan’s purpose for giving away his delicious sweets. Not only does he donate to Hays County Food Bank, but also other service providers like the Women’s Center, police department and fire station.

Donuts that the Hays County Food Bank receives go out to distributions throughout the county and to some of our participating agencies like Southside Community Center, Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center, and Crisis Bread Basket in Wimberley. Thanks, Dixie Cream!
